The AOW-age (state pension age) will increase by three months in 2028. This brings the AOW- age to 67 years and three months. For the years 2024-2027, the AOW-age will remain at 67 years.

The AOW-age will increase by three months in 2028. This brings the AOW-age to 67 years and three months. For the years 2024-2027, the AOW-age will remain at 67 years. The CBS calculates life expectancy every year. The AOW- age is determined based on this calculation.

Previously, the state pension age rose 1 to 1 along with life expectancy. In 2019 it was agreed that the state pension age will rise less quickly. Now it has been agreed that for every 4.5 months that the Dutch live longer, the state pension age automatically increases by 3 months.

An increase in the AOW-age must be announced five years in advance. That is why the increase that will take effect from 2028 has now been announced.
